Engr. Wajahat Rehan

Engr. Wajahat Rehan is a Civil Engineer with a B.E. (Civil), from NED University of Engineering and Technology (1974). She has
extensive working experience as a “Contract/ Documentation Engineer” and then “Environmental Specialist” at A.A. Associates; Planners and Consulting Engineers. She was responsible for writing not only the Environmental Impact Assessment and other environment reports but also other technical reports including PC-I (Planning Commission form I, Government of Pakistan;  a form completed as part of grant proposals), hydrology reports, and design reports for various infrastructure projects in Pakistan, including roads and bridges. These reports were submitted to various local and provincial authorities. She also prepared reports for various multinational and international organizations including the World Bank and Asian Development Bank. This work required extensive data research and analyses in addition to report writing.

Since retirement, she has been working on a research compilation titled “Colors of Pakistan.” This is a four-volume compilation, with each volume dedicated to one of the four provinces of Pakistan. It can be considered an environmental Almanac combined with Encyclopedia style information on all provinces (and their districts) and territories of Pakistan. Like an Almanac, the compilation provides details on history, geography, climate, flora and fauna (wildlife protected areas), and like an encyclopedia, the compilation provides short descriptions of languages and customs among other aspects.

This compilation required extensive research not only from primary resources such as various publications available with the Federal Bureau of Statistics, and the Geographical Society of Pakistan (for maps), etc. This project extends Engr. Rehan’s widespread experience in data mining and analysis as well as research and report writing
